What was yr best and worst yachty mag article over the last 12 months? I loved the one abt the chap who drove an inflatable for 8 hours in Alaska to RTB and attend to some business, then 8 hrs back again to continue his cruise. Worst always contains something about harnessing the power of prop wash

NP? non-popey

The last one has a different hinge on the anchor locker which meant you could open and close it.

It certainly is not by the windows, where do they buy those windows?

Re: jj\'s articles

yeah, i must say i would buy one the yachts reviewed - except they always seem to be supplied with some middle-aged bloke proprietorially sitting in various parts of the boat, especially the saloon, which is a bit off-putting.

Also, i here that this particular bloke is only 5'1" tall and his pad of paper is A5, not A4, is that true? What a chiz!

Re: Best article, worst article - VP

did the pope not ever go in a boat then? I can't remember him ever doing any boating, which is shame really. I'd like to see the forthcoming Irish Pope being very pro-boaty, and then we can go on the lash with him in the solent (but not with jimi, obviously, as the Pope has to be up before 11:30 on Sundays). Now THAT would be a decent article.

I don't see even an Irish Pope going boaty Popey potty in Pompey, leave alone Channel crossing crazy in Cowes. You lose nerve about weather? I told you not to tempt newly departed but well connected Polish boatey Popey about weather whether in channel or further afield, you fool.

They always seem so miserable too. Is this cause they justify their incredible pay by convincing the publisher they hate doing the job and don't enjoy it at all?

I'd be happier if they stood up occasionally which would give a better idea of the headroom.

Re: Pope Power

I'm afraid this Popemissed a trick when he commisioned that Popemobile based on an Austin Maxi or something similar. of course, any decent Pope would always go walkabout holding a bullet in his hand so that when someone had a pop attim he'd be able to show that he "caught" the bullet. Wow eh? However, post-shooting, and especially based in Italy, he could have had bulletproof Ferraris, in white for him and the outriders in red Ferraris, and only have had to sell a teensy little painting to pay for them. Mind you, with this being a bit raunchy he'd have probly have had to cave in bout the condoms then, really...

Re: Pope drift - VP

ah yes, that must've been where he originally did the kissing the ground on his return to dry land. Or was that after the dodgy Polish Airlines trip to Italy?

Anyway back to the earlier issue- i don't think he's done too much for boating.

In fact - although he always *looked* as though he was ready to do some antifouling with full length disposal smock and cap - i am pretty sure he never pitched in. Or was there a documentary about that too?

Actually I'm pretty sure he had a Hallberg Rassey 42, cos he always seemed to be trying to the holes in the hull
