Best Almanac to Buy

We've always gone with Reeds. We usually buy the big almanac but this year we've gone for the PBO small craft version. Much easier to have to hand and covers everything we need quite comprehensibly also a lot cheaper at around £15.99.

They are however increasingly obsolete given the capabilities of a modern plotter.

I have one on board but the last time I picked it up was to find a phone number that was wrong in the plotter almanac.

When I used to have a boat in the uk I sliced the binder so that I could have the south e gland northern France bit separate as the full book was simply too big

Reeds is very stodgy to read.

For France I prefer Bloc Marine the 2016 edition is in English and French again ( was French only for 2 years).

The internet is replacing almanacs for a lot of the info.

A good one for CI and France is the Marinas page of Digimap GG http://www.digimap.gg/marine/marinas/

Plotters have tide info and Mr Google has a lot of the rest if you know where to look.
