Hi All,
I'm planning to do a bit of cruising with some friendly types next week, which also happens to be cowes week. I would usually be taking part in it, so I have no idea what the berthing is like in places other than cowes during the event. Does anyone have any idea how easy it will be to find berths at the other solent harbours?

Cheers,
Ben

From what I can remember last year there was plenty of space in the W. Solent (Yarmouth - Lymington) and there were berths to be had in Poole. Beaulieu was very busy and I would think that the Hamble will be similar.

like us, i am sure there are many others that dread cowes week and get as far away as possible! we are on Cowes Authority River mooring down towards the Folly, we've told the HM that our berth will be vacant for the duration - for which he was much obliged - so that he can either move other boats down there or use it for visitors (unfortunately we don't get a cut of the takings...). the chaps down at the Folly also reported that it isn't as busy down there as you might expect.

you can call both prior to arrival to check it out. Folly launch/HM 07887725922. cowes number is in the almanac (ie don't have it to hand!).
