Berth renewal just arrived

Up 3% this year £324.97 mtr inc VAT

about 0.3% above inflation then?

I'm not condoning it but neither am I wholly surprised. Energy prices are going up by 8 to 10% & I can't see fuel costs going down, and insurance premiums? business rates? any of those dropping dramatically this year?

Levington £326.61per metre inc Vat and allowing for 5% discount for payment before 1st April (but cash or cheque only).Up 1.5%.In the last few years the increases have been inflation at least in the 3/4% range.
Perhaps they have realised that the pips are squeaking.

In contrast, ours hasn't gone up in the three years we've been at Fambridge and I heard, but have yet to see in writing, that it isn't going up again this year

£168 per meter at Granary, access only HW +/- 2hrs but it's nice up here at the head of the Deben waiting for the tide. No increase last couple of years, no extra charge to pay monthly, very boatyardy so no facilities, very friendly family run yard, knowledgable guys. Interesting that Tidemill has the same access times, amazing facilities and charges £242 per metre per year. Both places are full with a waiting list at Granary. An all tide swinging mooring on the river is a good deal combined with winter at £88 per meter for six months in Tidemill. Lift out charges at Tidemill are humongous - £42 per meter! Nice package at Waldringfield, deep water mooring, lift out and in and storage ashore all for £140 per meter.

When we got back from our travels, we said to Fambridge that we would like to resume our annual mooring.

Very happy when we get a new anual contract a couple of days later dated 13 August with a new start date of 1 August.

Danyal offers a prompt payment discount when taking out a annual contract if you pay by 1 May. Obviously as he sent us a letter on 13 August, he sent out a letter after the normal time for prompt payment discount.,
As we were taking an annual contract we assumed that we would qualify for prompt payment discount if we paid straight away and gave him a cheque tqking account of the prompt payment discount.

However, Danyal is saying that because he offered us an annual contract after 1 May, that he won't allow us to qualify for prompt payment discount. Obviously this will occur again next year.

Not best pleased.. I have asked him to refund the money from 1 April to 1 August.. No says he, we must pay the extra £61.00
