i like the beneteau 9.8 antares and the aquador 28c what are your feelings on these boats and is there any other hard top type boats worth looking at thanks as always for your help
Hello "New User"
The Benny is French.
The Aqua and the Ones peterf mentions are Scandinavian.
"So what"? One may well ask.
Tiss a general train of thought / opinion that the Viking boats are more together/ solid etc than the Onion Vendors.
There is no getting away from the Fact that the Benny is good value for money however.
Pound per foot yer gets a lot for your dosh with the French makes.
The Antares is a very decent Sea Boat.
IE it handles very well when the going gets a bit choppy.
Have personal experience of one.
I have an old Nimbus 27, it does bump a bit into a head sea but is more comfy than the Benny in a following sea.
Never handled the other two mentioned.
The Scandies are more expensive than the Benny.
You will notice as You peruse the the New and Used vessels on offer.
The 9.8 Antares layout is is quite handy IMHO.
Nice walk around decks and a handy cockpit for fishing and with the "Patio Doors" open whilst at anchor or in the Marina a nice area for socialising too.
The Aqua and relatives are relatively posher and plusher.
As said however a few more quid to purchase.
"What are Your feelings on these boats?" You ask.
Well--- I feel the Scandinavian boats are really good pieces of kit.
The Benny is good, maybe not fitted or kitted out quite as well.
But as mentioned good value.
So now You have two replies to ponder.
No doubt more will arrive!
It's a b%gger this boat picking Lark.
Southampton boat show is around the corner.
Good opportunity to "Touchy Feel" all these types.
Jump aboard a few and see how You feel about the layouts and fixtures etc.
Whether new or used is Your intention, it gives You the chance to compare like for like.
OK it aint the same as going to Sea but at least some ideas of what fits Your personal requirements ref these type of vessels will out.
Good Luck.
It's good fun looking at boats if nowt else!!
Off fishing now, with another Forumite.
In A French Boat!
If We have any succes there will be pictures to see.
If not, You know We will have had duff Day /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Agree with Kawasaki.
Beneteau a lot of boat for the money (Ie cheap) but Aquador a better boat. (In common with other Scandinavian boats)
You get what you pay for.
But then I'm biased /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
The Aquador 28c has a quirky arrangement for rear cabin. Great for two who cruise or with a family who do not stay up. You need to leave the hatch up with young ones so can not relax/entertain in the cabin once they have gone to bed. If you cruise with friends it is fine as all go to bed at roughly same time. Cruising layout therefore better on Bene. The Galley is better on Aquador, fully kitted out, diesel hob, lots of space. Also down slightly so out of the way. The Bene has flybridge but the Aquador has sunroofs (which work) and doors to get in and out of straight from the Helms Seat so easier for mooring. The Bene has a proper Separate Seating area for dinning, the Aquador is a clever use of existing seating and works. The bene quality is good and it seems mechanically well organised with all the systems to hand. However the Aquador is first class, simple and easy to use.
Boat handling..both seem good...but there are no squeaks or rattles on the Aquador..it is solid.
Overall the Aquador feels better at Sea, but the Bene is better at overnighting. If cruising with 2 and occasionally 4 I would get the Aquador. If cruising as a family would get the Bene....however there is an option, the Grandezza 31 0C Yummy or the new Aquador 28HT MMMM Both of which are preferable.
I love The Aquador, the 23HT is the best Quality boat I have ever owned. Unfortunately too small as a cruising boat for 4/5 (we have got soft!) I would love the 28HT and am still waiting to see it but my Heart goes to the 31OC...
The Bene comes at the back of the list for me, but still a great boat that does exactly what it says on the box!
I have an Aquador 23 but the open type. It's my first boat so don't have another point of reference but I have been delighted with it. As Nautorius says the Aquadors are really well built, mine has never let me down.
Hadn't seen the Grandezza before, must say that is a tasty bit of kit that would defo need to be on the list.
only nosed arounf the beneteau;seemed it had alot of things right, but I thought the flybridge wasnt that practical, and the steps up and especially down would be pretty spooky at sea.
Wouldnt think the Aquador is the same sort of boat at all. Completely different feel/atmoshpere. Id be surprised if you looking at the two as a comparison.
