Hello,
does anybody know the light displacement of the Beneteau Oceanis 361? The 1998 owners manual mentions 6065kg whereas the same 2002 owners manual 7120kg!!!!
In addition:
- What is the weight of the standard 1.80 deep keel?
- Angle of vanity (I think is called like this)?
Thanks

I think you mean angle of vanishing stability (i.e the angle at which the boat will invert). I would not worry about that too much because before you get that far you will have fallen in the oggin. The angle for most fairly light displacement cruising yachts is between 120 and 130 degrees. Long before that the mast is in the water and you have gone over the side. In any event the angle is theoretical, in that it takes no account of the equipment you have loaded aboard, and is worked out (or tested) on the basis of a boat in calm flat water, which is not what you would have in a knockdown situation.
.

The AVS should be available from the builder as they need to file this for their RCD certification. It is specific to the particular specification eg keel type, draft, rig etc.

The light displacement is again influenced by the particular configuration and the equipment included as standard for the model. This could well have changed over the period. The certification will also specify the ballast weight which for most boats is also the keel weight. The only way of really knowing for any particular boat because of the variations in spec is to contact the builder with the hull identification number as they will know what went on the certificate. Brochure figures are only a guide, but specific boats' manuals should be correct.

Hope this helps

The owner's manual dated 03.03.99 but issued with a 2001 361 gives a light load of 6055kg and a maximum load displacement of 8165kg for Categories A to D. The manual applies to the shallow keel and doesn't mention the deep keel version.

I can't help with the 2002 displacement but didn't think the boat changed very much from the earlier versions. Are you confusing the 361 manual with a 36CC manual?

David261 mine is also a 2002 model (built December 2001) with a 3/3/99 manual. Ducksey, no definately I am not confusing the 361 manual with the 36CC manual.
It's just very strange the two manual (for the same boat) to have almost one tonne difference.
Thanks anyway
