Looks like a great little boat for the rias here in Galicia.ERly French built 22footer.Has an inboard engine but shows sailing with an outboard.Anybody know this craft. It’s worth going to have allot at just hope the owner has been more careful with the maintenance. At 8000 euros a bit expensive for my budget !

I was very tempted by a later version some years ago. I think they are very pretty boats, and as far as I can recall from my researches at the time seemed sound and practical boats. I liked the idea of the mast supporting poles cum handholds inside.

IIRC correctly the Mk 1 does not have the projecting 'bowsprit' which most (later?) Barouders feature (but added a couple of foot of mooring fees). I don't know if that implies that the Mk 1 is either a bit under canvassed or prone to heavier weather helm. Either way, I think it's one of the boats that helped make Beneteau the giant it became.

I think one could have a lot of fun in a Barouder, and of course the long keel will make a man of you! ;)

The vid I have since unearthed show a mark one and two with identical hulls but different decks and sharing the bow platform and the interesting detail is the boats sailing on their own which hints at a balanced hull………..there’s no mention of a sex change?

The Mk1 is better looking, to my eyes, assuming the three windows and a port light is what distinguishes the Mk 1 (I was previously misled by seeing a photo of a Mk 1 at an angle where the projecting bow platform was hard to see). This is the same appearance as the one I was interested in long ago.

To my eyes, like most of the boats of that era which tried to update to look more modern by having 'modern' single angular windows, it neither suited the boat, nor has aged as well as the original windows.
