Hi all, I'm considering a 2005 Beneteau Antares 620. With 85Hp Nanni Diesel IB. How do the Beneteau's compare to similar boats, Arvor, Jeanneau etc?? Is the 85Hp powerfull enough for the 21Ft of boat? Do these boats engines suffer any known problems??? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I had a Merryfisher 635 (21ft) with the IB 85hp Nanni - great little boat but sloooooow...! They will cruise all day at 10kn but only pull about 14/16 WOT with a clean bum. Very cheap to run (when cruising about) Nanni engines are generally very good - mine was excellent if a bit noisy. The MF is only a semi-planer so if yours is a planing hull you may go a bit quicker. The diesel engines are reliable and economical and give clear transome and swim platform access - but an outboard version of a similar craft will be quieter and faster... and might be a bit cheaper!

My twopenneth!!!

[/ QUOTE ] I have an outboard 650 and it ain't quiet at 23 knots.

But the Bennies are built like brick out houses.

I have a very nice and fully equiped Antares 620 for sale. It has the largest engine option, a 105 hp volvo inboard diesel, good for 20 knots with a clean bottom. If interested, call me on 07800 652450.

We had a MF 625 with a 90 hp Suzuki outboard. Much quicker and quiter than the inboard diesel version.
In my opinion the petrol OB version is a better option and are generally cheaper. You lose a bit of space at the stern due to the engine well etc. but you do gain a cavernous lazerette beneath the rear decking.
Whatever you decide, have fun with it, they're great boats.
