Hi All,
I have a Beneteau Antares 30 that has Lacombe & Schmitt hydraulic helm pump model 40 HB-car with lock valve on 2 stations and the upper one is leaking through around the front shaft.
It seems like a o ring fix, but how would this be done? seems like the whole thing needs to disassembled to get to it?
A few years ago the upper helm became notchy, so my mechanic put some fluid into the upper system and it seemed but not definite that the leak started to develop then? would overfilling cause a leak?
The leak is gradually getting worse but operates perfectly.
I have had to remove the upper pump as I am lifting the wheel, so after reassembly, to bleed the system would I bleed only the upper pump (lower pump and cylinder should be ok?) by adding oil and turning wheel from lock to lock till air out of and leaving fluid level 1 inch below plug as manufacturers recommendation?
Thanks in Advance, Scott
