Beneteau 44 Gran Turismo

Brit buyers tend to buy Brit boats. But you never know, someone may own this model.

Not that many 'Brit' boats in our Marina...

Some are a little shy to reply regarding non clique boats, (perhaps worried about taking a bashing), but I think the 44 is a great boat...compares very well to a lot of the US brands imho and I bet you are loving it? I had a good look around one this summer and was impressed with both the helm and the interior volume.

How did the boat end up in CA, it's a long way from home?

Anyway, best of luck with the purchase and perhaps I will see you next time I take a drive down the 101!

Thanks for the replies. I am a yank, but my ancestry is Scottish/Irish, so I figured I would jump on this board. :)

Our previous boat was a Sea Ray (American boat). U.S. buyers are all over when it comes to purchases. Walk down a 200 ft. dock and there are boats from all over the world, including Azimuts, Fairlines, etc.

Here is the full story (3 min video) that covers the travel of the boat from France to the U.S. I even got footage of it going through the Panama Canal, via a live web cam I was monitoring for days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ve1JPEOAKA
Fantastic video, CR II looks like a well loved addition...I am sure this will be the start of some amazing adventures. How far will you venture with her...Would you go up the coast as far as San Francisco? I know it's a huge hike but I 'dlove to see some Gopro of you in the bay and passing under the bridge...look forward to hearing more and setting further videos coming through!

We ordered the boat in Jan, and took delivery in August, so it was a fun process. I will be watching that video from my rocking chair when I am too old to boat.

Nigel, we are very active boaters, and get out 2-3 x/month, year round. Most of our time is on the hook. I try not to run too far, mostly for enviormental reasons. But, we will do a run to Catalina Island next summer which is about 90 miles away. As far as heading up the coast to No-Cal, that is on the list but will have to wait a few years until all of the kids are gone and mom and dad can get a month or more off work.

Well from Catalina you are just a stones throw from Bay Watch Babes on Santa Monica beach, lucky b#@$@rd :)

We've had some great times in Santa Barbara and done a little, in fact nowhere near enough, boating from there.

We will be over in a few years to do the Gt Loop, it's becoming a bit of an obsession for us....

Happy boating and keep the posts/pictures/movies coming!

The great loop - now that is a great bucket list item. i hope you are able to do that soon.

I have a bunch of upgrade projects going on, so i will post some more pics later.

Regards.
