Feeling sick as I have just bent a stanchion med mooring in a cross wind. Not damaged or stressed the base as far as I can tell but will wait till the rain sets in.

Anyone know who makes the Beneteau stanchions? Have looked on the internet but can only find a chandler in the Caribbean! Its the type with the ball on top with two safety lines.

Just off to kick the metaphorical cat!

Possibly but out in Spain, with limited Spanish, mail order is attractive.

I see you are in Estepona. Nip along to the chandlers at the lighthouse end of the marina. The staff speak good English and the gaffer, Colin is a Brit plus very helpful!

Hope this helps!

Find the nearest Beneteau dealer and armed with your hull number they should be able to get one for you. This was how my damaged ones were replaced.

Thanks for the suggestion and i will do if needed. At the risk of sounding like Victor Meldrew...

If we were in the states I could log into the Beneteau spares website order one with my card and have it in two days time. Because we are in Europe we have to go through dealers for a part that is probably common and pay them a premium for the privilege, e.g. Nylon screws for my previous F211 rudders £98 from Ancasta and 1.50 from original supplier.

Sadly I try to steer clear of Beneteau dealers when it comes to parts. It might be I am just being grumpy cos i messed up the mooring though;)

Plastimo have an app for the iPad. They have stanchions on page 233 of the catalogue the app loads.

At least if you need to go to Benetaeu for the parts the factory won't be closed for the summer break. It was when I needed mine! Damage done in late June, boat not repaired until Oct. Oh, it was our first season with the boat as well!

Good luck.

I straightened a couple of stanchions this weekend by hand.
Took them off. Went into the car park and found a metal box section (part of a trailer).
Inserted stanchion half way and a couple of quick side-way pulls straightened them out.
The reason mine are so easy to straighten out is due to the large hole in the stanchion for the central wire.
These large holes create a weak point and it there that the stanchions bend.
Once straightened I cut out the liner that's in the central hole and insert a 450mm length of 20mm tube with 2mm wall.
I then drill a 10mm hole in the tube so the central wire can still pass through but it reinforces the weak point.
On previous occasions where the stanchion has been bent at the base I've had to replace the stanchion.
