"In a hole in the deck there lived a sailor. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a sailor's-hole, and that means comfort."
Apologies to J R R Tolkien

Definitely a cozy and snug hole. Will dig out some of St T's, which, being a lot smaller, is even snugerererer.

And are those really views from your house? Wowee, stunning!!

Hi, yes those are the views from the house, no neighbours, 2km drive to the nearest dirt road and 1/2 hour to the nearest town. No power, se we generate our own with 10 x 65 watt solar panels and a small wind generator, much like being on the boat really.
regards Nick

As it happens, I've just created a wee site here with some pics of Silkie's interior. They don't come much more snug than 4 berths in 22' LOA by 7'5" beam.

I like the way you guide us to your online photo album, with the pretext of looking at your 'hole', of course natural curiosity made me look at the other photos. 'View from our house' you call it!!!!!!!!!!!

Forumites, take a look, the guy is just trying to rub our noses in it, look at that view!!!

Looking at the other pics...
Do they really just chock 'em up on 4x4's...?
Looks a bit dodgy...:-((

Steve,

In truth, the job wasn't quite finished. They then add braces from the two middle pairs of shores down to the blocks under the keel and further diagonals between adjacent shores. Also, there are ten of them in total (each one precisely sized by Simon with his chainsaw) which seems like a fair few for a 22 footer - or I am being too complacent - what do others think - don't mean to hijack this thread - perhaps I should start another? Most boats are done the same way and there was a 100kt storm a few years back so presumably they know what they are doing?

Now see what you've done! I won't sleep a wink tonight.

You'll be fine. Exactly what happens in every other boatyard around the UK. If there are doubts about the ability of you boatyard, your neighbours would be telling you stories about lack of competence from early on in your stay there
