i want to visit bembridge.
id like to plan an overnight visit at some point in the future. i have a 25ft sports boat.
ive read a lot about accessing the bembridge +/- 3hrs high tide and following the bouyed channel
do the visitors moorings dry out completely at low tide? or is there sufficient water for my boat to sit for overnight stay.

The back (north side) of the visitors pontoon does dry in parts between the fingers and the westerly end on low springs. I don't think the front of the pontoon dries completely. Certainly shouldn't bother someone without a keel.:D

I don't want to appear rude but there are pilot books & charts, even GPS plotters and courses for this sort of thing !

Yes Bembridge is pretty much a half-tide proposition, but as mentioned once in, if a keel-less type no great harm should befall you, may be an idea to keep the loo's or a bucket in mind though ! :)

When we had a 12 m yacht with 1.9m draft we never had a problem in Bembridge on the visitor pontoons. HW +/- 2 hours was our normal window. The only issues we ever experienced were overcrowding and lack of space during bank holiday weekends when there were rallies in. Worth radioing ahead if it's likely to be busy rather than getting turned away inside. If you do have to turn away there is a pleasant anchorage that we often use for an overnight stay about a mile to the west off the beach.
 
There have been many references to http://www.visitmyharbour.com/harbours, and I've had a lot of fun looking through them. I've read almost all of Maurice Griffith's books, each many times over and over again, and it's super to be able to get more detail than the sketch charts he has in his books. What a great resource.

While you skippers don't have the same "free" NOAA charts that we get over here, that website is sometimes much better than information we can get here.

We have visited Bembridge a few times. If this is your first visit best go in on a rising tide - say 1-2hrs before HW. Follow the winding bouyage carefully, they are all numbered or were 12 months ago. We always moored on the on the VP and had plenty of water (we draw about 1m) but just tell HM when you radio in that you can't dry out - just to be sure. You should be OK at this time of year, but it can get crowded at WE's. Have fun.
