Right, I'm going to pull on expereince of those who regularly visit Bembridge (IOW). With a safe draught of 1 metre what is the latest time you can enter the harbour/channel after high water? I've worked out some numbers from the chart, but would like to confirm my figures based on those who regularly visit. Ta ever so!

Depends whether spring or neap. I've got out about an hour/hour and a half after LW, also drawing about a metre. Can't remember if it was neap or spring, but it was the day of Round IoW race last year. Had to stay slap bang in the middle of the channel, and not take any short cuts. It's the dog leg in the channel seaward that's shallowest.

It should be quite safe to 4 hours either side HW. Probably doable to 5 hours either side with care in calm conditions.

Got to agree with Brendons low water less 1hr 30min. Guy next to me has been going there for 25yrs and I used his experience. Never had a problem. Does seem to have changed its appeal recently, since new pontoon was put in but IMHO. Still I'd be interested to know what figures you drew up. When I did that excercise I got about 2hrs at MLWS. But I don't think theres enough water there then. Last time I did it at 2hrs it wasn't springs but I could see the bottom and the depth went down to 2.8ft . I had my legs up to 6 deg just in case!! Also made the crew (wife) just a bit nervous when I was calling the depth out.

Went in there 3 weeks ago for lunch at dead low water neaps in my RIB (you remember - the one that takes 5 people and has the bilge pump not working because someone forgot to put the fuse back in!!!!!). Engine up a bit but no probs - found the shallowest spot was about about 50m before the actual harbour mouth. Echo sounder showed 0.4m so say 0.6m depth.

A very pleasant lunch at the Bembridge Haven YC.
