Can anyone give me info on Adhesive that will bond Yanmar saildrive gator boot to GRP, that will last in the Caribbean heat.
So far the longest lasting is 1 week(not long enough).

Hey Mark, long time no see. Hope all goes well.
The answer is "nothing" IMHO. I've tried the obvious suspects (4200 etc.) . In the end I resorted to a stainless steel frame being screwed in. Most annoying as I'd thrown the old one away having been convinced by a boatyard that some adhesive would definitely do the trick. Undesirable of course to screw into the GRP below the waterline, but with short screws and the right sealant it's OK I think. And it's lasted 3years so far...
Any machine shop can knock one up and cost should not be too bad.

Hi Jeremy!
Yes...long time no see/hear!
Don't much fancy the plate and screws idea but it may be the only option.
Hope all well with you...do you still have Zingano and where are you?

G'day Mark,

Points to ponder:
Rubber should not be too thick or stiff.
The slot must be 3 or 4 inches longer than leg profile (motor/leg moves).
The area you are sticking to should not be antifouled.
The outer edge of the rubber should be tapered or rounded.
It is very important that both the rubber and hull are dry when applying the glue.
Sealants/glues designed for use with rubber work best.
The last one I glued on was 4 years ago, still solid as, used Tip Top 2 part black glue available from most tyre factors.

Avagoodweekend......

Well, you can't complain about 4 years so that Tip Top looks worth a try if you can find it or something like it out there.
Mark - have sent you a PM.
