O.K, 30 yr old GRP sloop, (Shipman 28) No sign of hull blistering, no raised strands (wicking???) My plan is to let her dry out over winter then paint below the w/line with epoxy, can anyone advise as to the moisture reading at which over coating is recommended, also paint recommendations please, I've used V.C before but wondered about cheaper alternatives, Cheers all, Mike.

Looking at the survey on my 1988 Moody there are figures quoted but with the comment that these would considered low in view of the type of gelcoat that will have been used and the age of the moulding. Can't say what would appropriate for a 30 year old Shipman. Know a friendly surveyor?

I had a 1972 Shipman 28 built in Ireland by Fibreman that was free of problems in 1998 when I sold her. I used VC tar but I now believe it's not available due to H&S or environmental issues?
