Does anyone know where I might get a South Pacific V1000 electric anchor windlass serviced/repaired. There is one long purpose machined bolt that has snapped and despite 3 months of tedious and unsuccessful correspondence with South Pacific themselves in Australia, I still haven't been able to get the correct replacement part. I did try Sea Teach Ltd as a UK supplier, but they don't hold spares in stock and would therefore have to back-order to Australia. Failing a UK based service/repair company, I will ditch the windlass as useless and buy from a UK manufacturer, assuming there is one.
Any ideas?

Any chance of a picture of the bolt, is it possible that a length of studding with nuts at each end might do.

South Pacific V1000 electric anchor windlass cheap Aussie rubbish, save yourself a load of trouble and buy a Lofran or something similar.

I am already tempted because I am so p***** off at the comedy of excuses and stories that have passed back and forward to Oz, not to mentioned the shipping costs for the wrong parts.

Williams Brothers in Sheffield 0114 2565200 are major bolt suppliers and manufacturers and, if you've got a pattern they will make a one off for you in either high tensile or stainless steel. No connection, it's just that they're doing something similar for me. Hope this helps. :)

Just like other posters I believe that any half decent engineer could knock one up quite easily. If it has differing diameters it will require careful measuring but not a big problem. I could probably make a fist of it on my cheapo Chinese lathe/ mill unit. Dont get carried away- I'm a humble mechanic who can knock up a few bits and pieces- I get a pro. to do precision stuff!

Thanks. I am following the posts and I'm sure I'll get it sorted out. I know it now sounds obvious, but my mind was concentrating on finding a replacement part and it didn't occur to me to have someone make one up!
Thanks
