I bought her last October, I much prefer to come out in the summer for a few days, when the weather is nicer to do all that underneath stuff. Apart from the small hanging gardens, last remnants of anodes the anti fouling was all intact. No signs of any damage, osmosis or galvanic corrosion, so really pleased. The only surprise was the props, they are five bladed and huge (43" across) and made from Nibral (Nickel/Bronze/Aluminium) and in perfect condition. So after a big clean up, fresh anti-foul, prop polish and loads of anodes she looks loverly and ready to sit on her berth for another year...

So, Roy, what's my prize??:D

Stating the obvious really But here goes.

If you are on the last remnants of your anodes they are giving pretty well no protection at all and you are damaging your props, shafts, skin fittings and seawater valves as they are unprotected and are being damaged by galvanic corrosion.

From a dirty bottom point of view assuming you cruise at above displacement speed, a boat after a year continuous in the water with antifouling south coast UK will burn about 29% more fuel per mile at a cruising speed of 20 to 22 knots.

Lecture Over.

We picked up our new Ridgeback after the old girl passed on in February , she is now 6 months old, I had forgotten what its like living with a puppy. She is however a totally different character and great fun.

Thanks for the telling off :)
Sorry to hear about Ridgeback, but excited for your new puppy, please post a picture or two. Our little baby is not so little now, just over 2 years old and weighing in at 6 1/2 stone, very tall and leggy but absolutely no fat, so kind and gentle, we take her everywhere with us, even non doggy people seem to like her ! Whats there not to like ?
