Having just about completed the redecking of my Buchanan Scorion 32 with epoxy on marine ply, I'm just about to replace the toerail with a new one. I wrecked the old toe rail getting it off as it was screwed at 4inch centres and glued to the old deck. I would like to replace the new one on some type of soft setting or non-setting compound so if the need ever arises to take it off again I can hopefully do so without damage. Can anyone suggest what I might use?

I would try one of the seam topping compounds but remember that the toerail/rubbing strake is also protecting the edge of the deck against water penitration so make sure of a good seal. Thats why they are traditionally glued and screwed to make a very strong water tight joint

Thanks very much for your advice. The plywood has had a thin hardwood strip epoxied along the edge and has then been sheathed over the top with epoxy and glass cloth, again to the edge, so should hopefully be well sealed. The toe rail will then sit on this. I guess that leaves only the screw holes to worry about! I'll have to think about those!
