Boat Jumble...

.....nixed.

Now a non-event.

My world is growing smaller each day. :ambivalence:

'Beaulieu' was an institution. A social event, where buddies separated by years and miles met up briefly to exchange 'Do you remembers'....

And.... and.... enjoying the banter with the PBO staff, many of whom one had known for years. Fat chance with this new lot, joined by their umbilicals to their shiny screens.

And the last lot went out on the water, got their hands dirty, knew what the difficult big boaty words in the mag meant.

So is it cancelled? Beaulieu website seems to say it will happen
It doesn’t seem to be listed here

https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/

and this from their statement announcing 2019’s events

“We have, however, made the difficult decision not to include Boatjumble – which has not been made lightly. Increasingly poor weather conditions at the start of our events season – which is the only feasible gap in our busy event calendar to hold this event – and a decline in support, due to changing times in the marine industry, has led us to review this event. We will instead develop new opportunities which have presented themselves to us.”

I’m a bit surprised that it has been cancelled for next year, as although it has been getting smaller it seemed to be well attended in recent years. I had thought that it might go on a while longer unlike LIBS which had it been a horse would have been shot a while back.

I always enjoyed attending, even if the benefit of the occasional bargain was more than offset by too many unwise purchases, now cluttering up the garage.

Maybe Excel will have space in January for an indoor boat jumble? It’s a shame to see Beaulieu go as it is was a fairly regular part of our boating year. However it may reduce the number of early season boats break-ins
