Can anyone tell me what it is like, as I am thinking of going in April for 3 days. Eating out (where, cost etc.) what to do other than boaty stuff (for 'er indoors). Any tips gratefully received.
It is superb and is quieter than the rest of that coast because access is not direct from the motorway. Lovely marina, interesting small town with many local restaurants. One on the marina, the African Queen is popular, good fun and reasonable food.
There are two very good and expensive hotels, La Reserve and The Excelsior. I have stayed at the former and can confirm that it is excellent with a first class restaurant.
We run all our courses from BSM and I would say that the location is stunning. The port staff are helpful and there are a few characters living onboard which gives the place a nice feel.
Have a look at http://www.oceanpro.co.uk/accomodation.htm for some hotel ideas. Most of our clients stay at La Berlugane which is well kept and very good value for money.
If you want to eat at the port itself the Restaurant 'Cafe del mare' is excellent. African Queen is OK but a bit crowded. In town everyone reccomends La Berlugane (no connection to the hotel) I've yet to go there. Bacchus cafe in the port for excellent Leffe Belgian beer.
For the missus Hermes in the port & shops in town, otherwise Nice or Monaco. The cliff top Eze vilage is worth a look. All about 20 mins by taxi.
