We're thinking of taking a trip to the Beaulieu Boat Jumble this Sunday. Looking to pick up some new fenders, rope and possibly some new gauges plus some new boat clothing.

Are there any decent bargains to be had or would we be better buying this stuff online?

Last year I went with a colleague who bought electric windlass, dinghy, outboard. A thousand pounds gone before the show had officially opened. (We had exhibitor tickets.) Once the show was opened it didn't feel long before the really good bargains had gone. After that I think if you were after something specific that may not be generally available on line then you may find yourself lucky. i.e You lost a widget overboard but it's no longer sold and you hope to find one.
Some people though really do try it on for some pieces of junk. But you do see some people buying this stuff so obviously their perceptions of value are different to mine.
Note: There are cash machines there but they charge for withdrawals. Lots of exhibitors weren't taking cards.

Just on a practical note - does it cause serious traffic problems -we are moored on the river, going down Sunday and wonder whether to take long way around to avoid Beaulieu itself?

They are pretty well organised at beaulieu regarding traffic , they've had plenty of practise over the years

Thanks for the info. Still not 100% convinced on going. Where there any marine fabric stands last time? Looking to get around 10m of marine headlining also.

Couple of stalls selling fabric/headlining whenever I've been.

It may improve again, but the last time I went maybe two years ago it was a great place if you wanted to buy someone's second hand toilet or some obscure lump of metal for a 50 year old engine.
Very few chandleries. If the sun is out and you wants day out with boat stuff it is OK, but,no,I would,t expect to get any deals at all.

Definitely Not !
£8.50 to get in, all the stall holders inflate their prices by "The Beauileu Factor", traffic chaos getting in and out, a very long walk from the car park (muddy field) to the site (another muddy field), all the good stuff is sold to the dealers anyway before the public are allowed in.

£9:70 this year! :-0
And lots of empty pitches.
I treat it as a day out, rather than a source of 'bargains'.
Beaulieu do a good job re the traffic getting in and out. Never had to queue but do end up walking a fair bit to get in.

Ended up going. Good day out and the entrance fee included access to the museum so well worth it. Generally alot of tat being sold and a few traders chancing their arms with the prices. Saw a few bargains, a brand new 2.30m tender/dinghy thing for £195! Was very tempted!

Only disappointing thing was the food prices... £20 for 2 small burgers and a drink!

Traffic seemed very well managed by the Beaulieu staff.
