bearing

hi guys ready to drop my new lister ac1 series 2 in to hull. from gearbox to cutlass bearing is a distance of 800 to 1000mm
should i look at fitting a center bearing or will it be fine bolted to gearbox and seated into cutlass bearing.

Hi Garry,
I reckon it should be fine although there are a lot of Forum members who know more than I. Personally, I think a centre bearing would be overkill.

You need to know shaft diameter and shaft material to work it out, but as a very rough rule of thumb many engineers use 40x shaft diameter as a guide. If you want to work it out here is the formulae. http://www.pacificmarine.net/engine...ler-shaft/propeller-shaft-bearing-spacing.htm
