I have removed one of my seawater pumps due to a leaky seal, and feel the bearings are a bit sloppy so will replace these too.

The Jabsco fitted has a near identical version from Johnson, but there is a significant difference in the bearings, which although are both 6203 the Jabsco has sealed pre-greased bearings , whereas the Johnson has open cage versions. Where the bearings are situated they are open to the splash lubrication from the timing case and adjacent drive spur gear.

Can anyone see any reason not to use the open cage versions ?

These pumps are fitted to my Cummins 6BT5.9M engines.
