Whilst attempting to change a roller bearing thismorning the bearing came out as planned but the inner collar stayed on the shaft.
There is no room to try a tap a chisel in behind the collar or to fit a puller so I wondered if one of those high speed dremmel multi tools would be able to cut through the collar to save taking the whole thing to an engineers or are these things just to hard for normal cutting bits.

Any ideas?

A dremmel multi tools will grind it but an angle grinder will be quicker if you can get to it. Grind as close to the shaft as you can but try not to touch the shaft. A good hit with a sharp cold chisel should crack it and then pull it of.

special pullers are made for this problem, usually found in tool hire shops, if grinding with Dremmel,, cut as near as possible to the axis of shaft, support on a block and with a sharp cold chisel, hit in the ground line, this will distort the collar and eventulaly come free, hope this helps.
