At some point i need to give 'seal' a scrape/antifoul/topsides paint etc. I'd like to ground her on a nice sand/shingle beach for a few days, camp out and get the work done between tides.is this feasible and legal? I'd rather not have to pay for a lift out etc 'cos cash(as always) is tight.bilge keels btw. As usual, many thanks

Just above Clamp House there is a nice sandy beach where MoBo`s beach for a scrub n picnic

Suggest you use the East Coast Forum for local knowledge

At Priory Bay, IOW I was 'asked' (very politely) by the "lord" not to antifoul my boat on the beach in case I dripped any paint. Apparently that beach is private to MLW. Many other beaches locally where it is routine and there will often be half a dozen yachts scrubbing/antifouling on a good day. Some boats, often catamarans, deliberately neap themselves and stay for a week or so.

I would be very surprised if it was to MLW. Unless the Crown have said otherwise it is to MHWS.

no problem, i do this once a year off a nature reserve. as long as you are below the high tide line, bit difficult to do so above ...

this year i parked near a nasty looking bolder, i did walk the ground and felt it with my boots, but still a risk.

next time i will scope the beach out at low tide before beaching.

i scrub mine before it dries out, so no AF and other stuff 'on' the beach

It is to MLW Springs. A number of stretches of coast on the IW are the same. The law was changed (on the IOW) by Queen Victoria, the Crown at the time, primarily for her beach at Osborne House. You have the unusual situation where you can anchor and pass over parts of the sea bed at high tide but it is private at low tide.
