So we are now coming to the end of our first year boating on the BC. We have been to a few places but know there is much more to see. So by popular demand lets collect a list of favourite places to go.

For me personally I'm particularly interested in places I can go ashore for lunch, and places I can overnight and stay afloat!

So I'll start by getting the obvious one out of the way:

Mermaid Quay, Cardiff. Good for lunches, overnight plausible if you want keep feeding the meter...

Over to you chaps!

We like Watchet good spot for an overnight. But just watch the tides don't enter for at least an hour after the gate open especially on springs.

You can also stay at one of the yacht clubs or marinas at Cardiff.

Cold knapp good place to drop the hook.

Woody bay anchorage.(walk through woods to the hotel for lunch)
Bristol (loads of places but the Spyglass is good)
Swansea (loads of places)
Padstow (Rick Steins)
St.Ives (can't remember the name but brilliant fish restaurant on the main street)
Cardiff, Mermaid quay
Fontygary bay. I have never seen it done apart from me doing it (anchoring) but fantastic Indian 50 yds up the steps from the beach.

Don't know, i can't reach the charts after knackering my back but its roughly on English coast between Minehead and Ilfracombe. You will spot it on the chart. It is great and once you walk up the path to the hotel you can watch the boat at anchor through a clearing in the trees (unless they have grown since our last visit) Anchorage is pebbles i think and exposed from any wind with N or E.
Its the sort of place you can imagine smugglers going years ago.
When Swmbo gets home i will give you better directions but i can hardly move at the moment.
