BBC World Service + News IS still available in Europe

Contrary to several postings in various places, you can still receive the BBC Short Wave World Service. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/ For the Med you will need the West/Central Africa frequencies and schedule.

If you dont want the chickin crowing before hearing about africa its very limited.

The best frequencies were 17180 & 13 something145?? or 967???Sometimes its on all morning into the afternoon & other times such as now nothing at all!!

I havnt heard the BBC for weeks perhaps months??Last winter i tuned about & found it on 17 at least daily & all morning

DW radio have or had a good English service clear with once good programs & news I always listened on 6070 i do most days but thats in German.Sadly forthe last few weeks they repeat an hour broadcast!!News the culture followed by sport.They do still have good programs but its pot luck!

I realy should look at program guides??

Radio cuba is interesting & the "sored(shouldent the be a "w" somewhere) of justice" from Iran on 6230-ish amazing!They dont seem to like president Bush???

If you find any regular stations broadcasting listen able content in British please post time & frequency not radio china international!!

Why are you listening on short-wave rather than internet? ..... assume you must be somewhere where you are paying by the megabyte /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I very seldom listen on short wave to anything if I can help it - the quality is terrible but there have been some comments from others recently about how terrible it is now that the Beeb has stopped doing the World Service.

We haven't got away yet, Vic, for various reasons. Weather permitting, we will get away at the weekend. David

Yes BBC world service comes in great here at 32S 135 E in the afternoons of 8meg. Sure it seems African orientated though. olewill
