Is there a new definition of "breezy" that I haven't heard of. The next four days here are all daily summarised as ".... and breezy" whilst the wind strength predicted ranges from 4 mph to (just a couple of hours of) 8 mph which is 7 knots. I'd call that pretty light winds.

Funnily enough their rainfall predictions can be usually fairly accurate.

The "and breezy" comment does seem to be rather over-used! But I rather prefer the new MeteoGroup forecast to the old Met Office one. The "Temperature feels like..." feature is a nice addition.

The daily summary does often seem at odds with the hourly forecasts.

Someone will get cross at this but I think something is wrong with the algorithm that links them.

Yes - today it is forecasting "drizzle and breezy" with a clear blue sky, hourly sun symbols and 6-8 mph winds. As I'm about to go out on the boat I'll happily miss the drizzle, but would actually prefer a bit of breeze.

As a windsurfer as well as a sailor I'm used to studying the local BBC forecasts and the redefinition of "breezy" has been annoying me too!
However looking at the next couple of days for Hove and there is a really significant discrepancy between the Met Office and the BBC (aka Meteo Group). Sorry no screen shots but last year before the changeover they matched pretty well (and were pretty good).

A small miracle has happened as today they're forecasting sunny intervals and light winds :)

This weekend I have found the BBC forecasts to be hopelessly pessimistic with the Met Office being pretty accurate so far.

I'm still seeing "Mist and breezy" for later in the week with max forecast wind 6 mph on that day !!!!!
