Hats off to the BBC

1800 boats 16k plus participants and news coverage consists of dollly bird standing on cowes green talking to Alan Titchmarsh - not one shot of a boat other than a rib in the harbour

5 mins later oh Day Melon, and the Leopard just finished, pan around to Calshot with no boats on the water

Is there a Lazy Darwin award for TV production?

Its not a question of cost, they could have put one team down at hurst - Production my arse! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If they wanted a spectacular, then a camera at the needles will normally provide good pictures. If its not collissions with other boats, there is always someone who collides with the wreck.

What did you expect? After all it's not "sport" is it, hardly any football connection. [Not a lot of gardening either, come to that].
Now if you could get a footballer to buy and sell property and antiques to "celebrities" during the race, it would be worth the beeb covering it.

To be fair to BBC south - they actually had a reporter on Day Mellons cat - I guess we'll see her article on South Today on Monday. As for the national news - well down to the BBCs usual maritime based reporting.
