Bayliner transport question

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm (I've not yet measured) if a Bayliner 2558 Flybridge IS less than 25ft - Thus the anchor reach and bathing platform account for 3 or so feet with the actual hull being around 22ft?

I'm looking at making arrangements to have it transported by road and I have seen several photos of other models on what would appear to be a 2 axle trailer!

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Length isnt a problem when transporting a boat, but height, width and weight are critical.

You can tow a 2655 legally ( I did it for a couple of years), but I think the 2558 is quite a bit heavier, especially if its got the big block V8.

hi the length isnt a problem but weight and witdth might be max width is 9'6" and weight is 3500 kg gross possibly with a light weight trailer you will just scrape under the limit
I think the lightest trailer I could find a few years back was about 700kg that was a bunked 2 axle which gives the best carrying capacity
you need to check the dry weight of the boat and go from there
if it is close to the limit & just a one off trip you could consider removing some items from the boat to reduce the weight for the trip ie battery bank loose furnishings etc
hope this helps

Hi all,

Apologies for the lack of response!

It's a one off trip that I'll be doing with it - My biggest worry just now is whether it'll fit into the warehouse at James Watt Marina for winter refurbishment. Can anyone confirm the height on or off the trailer (Out of the water anyway!)

And Swordfish - I like what you've done with the bathing platform!

Thanks
