I'm pleased to say that after only a month on the market I have secured a sale on my Bayliner 2858.
It proves that a well presented boat at a realistic price will draw plenty of interest and offers.
In the end I sold at a price which was extremely near my asking price and I'm pleased to say that after the sale was secured I could have sold her again at the same price, sorry to the prospective buyer but you were 2 hours late with your offer!
So chins up chaps its not all doom n gloom there are people out there with funds.

NOTE TO BROKERS.(you know who you are)
The market value you suggested was way off the mark.

Well done on the sale, there are still plenty of boats being bought and sold on the secondhand market. Did the brokers suggest a much higher price than you achieved or was it the other way round?

No it was the other way round they suggested I should expect to achieve 4k less than I actually got.

So not only did you achieve a higher sale value but also saved on brokers fees!

Hi Paul,
Ebay ad was brilliant, nearly 2200 viewed the ad, and 42 registered watchers.
OK there were a few timewasters with silly questions and very silly offers, but the chap who bought it saw it on ebay!

Again due to ebay I had a guy get in touch to say he loves the 2858 and at the price advertised he would love to buy it but needed to raise the funds, well he kept in touch and yesterday 2 hrs after I had taken the first chap for a sea trial and then secured the deal he phoned to say he had the funds and wanted to come and view, well he was gutted when I explained it had just been sold, so yes ebay was excellent and there was more interest than the other 3 major advertising sites put together.

Well done Rob.

Brokers hate Bayliners, I had the same problem years ago when I sold mine.
I also sold privately and got an extra 25% to the amount they suggested I advertise at.

They are a bunch of snobs, some will have to change quickly if they are to survive the next few years they have missed £3000-£4000 brokerage for the sake of a few hours work, alright it will not buy them a new Porsche but it would help toward the expenses of running a business.

Did the package turn up , sent last Friday

Cheers a good boat will always sell, got to admit tho that I was a little concerned in the current market and having bought the Sunseeker aswell.

Package well I assume its the one you sent and I have to collect from my local sorting later today as I was out when postie came.

Many thanks for sending and much appreciated, donation will go int rnli box on the weekend,Top man.

Congrats on your sale, very jealous. I look forward to the flurry filtering along the south coast. We have been on the market most of the year, its been absolutely dead. Its frustrating when you want to move on.

I feel ours is well priced and definitely well presented, just cant seem to get anyone to look let alone offer!

See Here

I must say your boat looks very nice indeed....!

I see you are with a broker though?

I suggest an ebay advert go for a classified ad style with a best offer option, cost approx £13 for a month but when you take into consideration the amount of viewers for the advert which generate the interest!! I mean lets be honest what have you got to lose??

Good luck.

I agree,

That is very nice and clean...but it is twin Petrol! In current climate expect offers around £30k...maybe less. However, Stick it on Ebay at £36,950 and wait and see what happens. You can drop it to £34,500 if you make a private sale and still get the same cash.

I have just looked again...that is the nicest Falcon 27 I have ever seen! Hold at at over £35k she is lovely. You just need to reach the right buyer..

Wow,

You are right...I presumed with the price and condition it was a Petrol...I made an ass of myself!

In that case being a diesel hold the price but make sure your advertising improves! Good Luck

Now I remember a while back that some one stated in their post that 'anyone selling on Ebay was desperate'...so you just proved that statement was a load of b@II@cks. Ebay is a great place to generate interest and hopefully a sale will result. Congatulations on the succesful sale!
