Anyone know where I might source brass skin fittings for a Bavaria 42 cruiser in Split ? Also need to replace rubbing strip around the stern.

Thanks

1. Skin fittings are not specific to a type of boat, so you don't need to look for "Bavaria" ones.

2. You should not use plain brass for underwater fittings, as it corrodes and can become dangerously weak in a few years. You should use either bronze or special dezincification-resistant brass known as "DZR". Chandlers in this country are beginning to get with the programme and label their stock correctly (in the past they didn't) but I would be a bit wary of getting the right stuff in Croatia.

Croatia, with its very large charter fleet is probably rather better for getting things than the UK - at least that's my experience. Don't know Split but could point you in the correct direction in Sibenik, Krk or Pula. Suggest you go and ask the port police guys, they're usually ex-merchant marine, speak good English and are practical.

The skin fittings and valves are standard 3/4" or 1 1/2" for the toilet outlet. As Pete says buy DZR ones. Buy them here as they are probably cheaper and you will know exactly what you are getting. The rubber strip is a Bavaria item, so suggest you find the Bavaria dealer in Croatia. Expect it gets replaced regularly on charter boats so should be easy to source.
