We looked at one when buying our boat - not a stereotypical modern bavaria - but an older one which was heavily built and on a par with Moody/Westerly for displacement.
Interior fit out will probably look tired now though as the boats are circa 10 years old (minimum) and many were used for charter.
Depends what you want to use it for - but I got the impression it would be a sound boat.
welcome to the forum. We looked long and hard in this country and over the little pond for them. Quite sort after boats as they were from the pre production line build era. I sailed on a 1991 Bavaria 41 Carabic a couple of years ago and would suggest very comparable to a Westerly, without the issue of headlinings falling down. a stiff boat with a good turn of speed. I would think that your best source would be brokers in France or Holland. Many many moons ago I delivered a couple of 39 and a 41 to Dubrovnic, bit of a blurr now mind, but I wasn't put off by the experience.
Try the search engine on this site, put dates 1988 to 1998 that will give you the best chance
Mine was a lagoon with single aft cabin and huge shower/heads.
I did over 10,000nm in one year, only fault was the wood panels would sometimes squeek as they sit in grp moulded slots in the internal mouldings, cured with silicon.
Good in Biscay storms in November as well as tropical calms....I'd buy another one.
Obviously some are better looked after than others ... yours looks stunning. Just my experience when looking, we really fancied an older bavaria from the pre-production line days, but being around 15 years old the ones we saw did look a little tired - but as you've proved, there's always exceptions to the rule.
