Bavaria 38 parked on \"Otter Spit\" !!!

Just heard that a Bavaria 38 spent yesterday parked on the "Otter Spit" up loch Fyne, it appears it became a bit of a tourust attraction as folk wandered around it at low tide. Clyde sailors will know the spot well,both well charted and marked but quite often attracts the odd stray......another using the AA road atlas I guess!!

Maybe they were looking for Otters? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The name is from the Gaelic 'an oitir' which just means the shoal, but there are other a couple of other Otter placenames which are in honour of Captain Otter, a very diligent 19th century hydrographer.

Perraps they'd indulged one too many in the Otter Ferry.

I've been out on foot almost as far as that big green tower that marks the end of the spit. It's an impressive pile of gravel.

Hope he didn't hit it at a rate of knots. A knock like that to the underneath could do some damage to some boats, wouldn't want anything to fall off when he sails away.

Has anyone tried the Oystercatcher recently?
After experiences with the French guy and his missus it went off my rader but I gather it changed hands last Autumn.
I wouldn't mind an excuse for a recce.

Reminds me of when you could see a Grey Funnel liner on the Rhu spit at least once a season. They never could get the hang of the idea that you did NOT sail between the two towers. Unfortunately they got a Dutch dredging company to remove a lot of the spit several years ago.

They need to remove some of the rocks in Lagavulin entrance, I hit one last week, no damage done just my pride!!, still we had been to Ardbegs open day
