can I ask - if you have only just purchased your Bav, how did you find out about the defects?
I would suggest that you are better off having a chat with your surveyor unless he/she identified it in the survey, at which point I guess it becomes your own problem as you were fully aware at the time of purchase and happy to continue.
If your Bav is a UK supplied one older than 20 months it is my understanding from the administrators and Bavaria themselves that Peters Opal as importers at the time provided the 12 month product and 5 year hull warranty and therefore Bav have no liability connected to the product.
I am afraid that you may be joining me on the long list of financially worse off people thanks to Peters Opal.
Yes, the defects were identified before purchase. I believe that some, (well at least one!) of these yachts has insufficient strength in the hull keel area. I chose to buy, then repair (strengthen); the repair costs are not additional. Repairs are ongoing at this time by the firm which did all opal guarantee work.
