Bavaria 30 slight list

I have noticed that my Bavaria 30 yacht has a slight list to starboard when stationary i.e. marina no wind. Having looked at a couple of others and they appear to be the same.

Diesel tank (full), holding tank (empty), heavy batteries, cockpit locker and head are all on the starboard side with only the fresh water tank (empty) and galley on the port side. Bilges all dry. Filling the fresh water tank improves things a bit, but there is still a noticeable list.
Any clues what might cause this and any suggestion for correcting it? I have thought about ballasting the port side by loading some spare anchor chain in the saloon settee locker.
I have also noticed that the the boats I have looked at all sit slightly stern low (mine included), at least according to the boot top.

I think this topic was discussed earlier, but I can't find it.
Cheers

When I have looked around the marina I am based in, I have noticed that many boats of a similar displaceemnt to yours have a list. I have a Hunter 32 which has a slight list to port as we have fuel, 2x110ah batteries plus all the gubbins in the cockpit locker on that side. I have mounted the outboard on the starboard pushpit and we tend to carry the heavier food items in the starboard lockers which helps a little but I now give it little thought and live with it. It doesn't seem to affect the handling of the boat at all.

I guess it is just weight distribution within a fairly light diplacement boat.

Our Bavaria 30 does this as well, probably due to the 3 big batteries! Tend to keep the water tank topped up, but still leans over a bit.

I'd have a think about what could be relocated to balance the boat better but definitely wouldn't add anything just for the sake of it (effect on performance)...

Dont worry. Both may last 2 boats ( Moody and Starlight) have had a list to port thanks to putting the diesel tank and batteries on that side and just the water tank on the other.

Agree you just have to think heavy to port, light to starboard...
I also tend to do the same for the trim in my case heavy forward light aft.....
It makes a difference, after 2 years I had to start moving weight aft

Thanks for all the reassuring words. I will have a serious go at redistributing all the ACRU (always carried, rarely used). I have almost got used to the list, but today after a trip to check all was well after the strong winds the Marina Manager asked if I knew my boat had a list and of course when I took a fresh look at it today it was probably at its worst with no fresh water in the tank no tinned food etc. (always stored in the port side) and the wind on the port side.

I noticed my boat was heeling to starboard and getting a stain above the boot top, so I moved the liferaft across to port. STUPID !!! Now I'll have to clean both sides...

Mine too. But why worry? As soon as you go sailing it lists far more, one way or the other.

I do put tools under the port settee and food tins and bottles in the port lockers just to try and help. But I don't fret about it.

A long way from my boat! :(

Tie a couple of helium filled weather balloons to the starboard toe rail! :)

Increased performance due to symmetrical under water profile and reduced weight.

Protection against incoming dive bombers and buzz bombs

Permanent party atmosphere.

You explained it yourself with the list of heavy weights to starboard. You also have an empty water tank to port. With such small size yacht it is an expected behavior. You may be able to counterbalance just with the weight of a man on the port beam or by filling the water tank.

If you normally prefer a configuration with full fuel tank and empty water tank and the consequent list bothers you, if you can find the space move the batteries to port or centreline.

It is only on 7+ tons yachts that you start getting these effects slightly mitigated by the overall mass.
