Where do contributers believe Dehler, Dufour and Feeling come in this scenario? Are they better, different or just not popular enough to be included .... or are they 'a cut above'?
IMHO the new Dufours ... 40 & 44, look terific but seem priced above the 'usual suspects' ... why?

In my admittedly limited experience Dufour and Feeling can be grouped with JenBenBav, and Dehler a bit better quality and design wise; not exactly an X-boat but heading in that direction.

cheers,

What, pray, are you looking for?

If it's day cruising with a little night work in local and near continental waters ( do a reality check here please) they are all capable producers. Would anyone care to nominate a model or producer's wares that are not fit for such a job? Just like medium priced cars it's a question of taste; trying to separate them all on technical grounds will drive you barmy - just look around you. Better still look at the mag reviews, cover the headline, and try to guess what producer let alone what model they are taking about - it's the successor( in marine terms) to karaoki

If you really want something with long distance / blue water qualities take a day at one of the seminars set up during the year on this topic. You will learn more there about what really works in waters beyond our shores than in any mag reviews. And if you meet the ancient mariner muttering about long keels that must displace 20 tonnes over 40 feet to be serious contenders, look at the ARC entries, and think on....

Good luck,

Peter Gibbs.
