Battery terminals

I am about to replace all the battery wiring on my boat. As part of this I shall be using wires with rings on the end, so no need for terminals like this:

It would be much easier to use terminals like this

but I've seen them listed as "lighting terminals" on a couple of sites. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use them for a 1GM10 starter circuit - that's 100A or so.

Not to my knowledge. I had them exclusively on my last boat and that had a monster current draw for the starters. Never a problem. Just ensure the crimps are well made and well fitted.

Can't see any problem with them.

My new batteries have female terminals though - no projection from the case, just a threaded hole that you insert a machine screw into after passing through one or more ring terminals. These are way neater than edwardian lead clamps
