Does anybody have experience with an oil film sitting on top of battery electrolyte.

As in http://www.batteryde-mister.com/

It sounds logical but the claims seem to ignore good management practices. I dont seem to suffer from the "Problems" this stuff is supposed to eliminate.

I may need to experiment with an old battery and some clock oil! Thoughts, experience, caveats, all welcome.

It certainly won't do any harm, I've filled the air gaps in the top of wet batteries with oil, usually a high grade mineral oil, to pressure balance them for underwater use. The advertising blurb does seem to take a scatter gun approach to its benficial claims, so you may be better off using real Snake Oil.
