Battery selector switch

Hi all

Firing off questions left right and centre. Apologies. Im obviously a newbie to these things.

My boat has two batteries installed with a selector switch for 1, 2 or both batteries.

Id like to know if its safe to switch batteries whilst the engine is running.

yes as long as you switch through both
from 1 then both then 2
its usual th have say batt 1 for engine start, when started switch to both, engine off then switch to batt 2
NEVER EVER ALLOW OTHERE TO MEDDLE WITH THAT SWITCH & NEVER SWITCH TO OFF WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING or the alternator will almost certainly be damaged
