Bit of advice please re-batteries. My present setup consists of two batteries with enough room for a third. One is the dedicated engine starting battery and the other is for "general electrics." including autopilot. I want to add a third to be used as part of the general electric supply so, for instance, it would mean that I could use my autopilot for longer when sailing without running down the general electrics battery as quickly. My question is, if I add an identical battery to that which is currently used for general electrics, do I connect the two in series or parallel? Many thanks for your advice guys

In parallel (In series would give you double the volts)

+ to + and - to -

It is best then if you connect to the pair making the positive connection on one and a the negative connection on the other.

The additional battery should be the same type but need not be exactly the same Ah capacity
