Hi,

I consider to install a battery monitor on my battery equipment bank to better serve my batteries and hopefully extend the life of these expensive 'blocks'. One thing I just discovered.... most battery monitors have a shunt of 50-100 Amps but I guess that will blow immediately when I hit my windlass Lewmar RMI 50 F 12V..... I tried google this windlass to find current draw but nothing comes up. It appears this model is discontinued ard. 2005.

Anyone able to assist or suggest a good monitor that will work with a heavy duty windlass. Thanks.

I think the nasa bm2 has a 200amp shunt whereas the bm1 is 100amp.

When I contacted nasa they said even though they are rated at 100amp (bm1) it will take much higher current for a short period of time e.g. starting an engine.
