Hi all, which Battery would be best for an electric outboard, it is a flover 55,


Just found this,,,Flover 55lb thrust motor drew 47 amps to produce 14.1kg thrust,

You need a deep cycle battery, at least 100Ah.

Flover's figures are all a bit suspect. They say the 55 drew 47A to produce 14.1kg thrust, but elsewhere they say its max current draw is 45A and that its max thrust is 24.9kg! Their battery endurance calculations are suspect too - you won't get anywhere near 2 hours running at max speed with a 100Ah battery.

Certainly, but they're not cheap!

By the way, an ordinary 100Ah wet lead-acid deep cycle battery would run your motor at 45A for about 20 minutes, then it would be down to 50% discharged, and it's not wise to go much lower.
