I have a 70 Ah battery with a charged and rested open circuit voltage of 12.5v. SG of the electrolyte was 1.1. It was also low although above the plates, I topped it up with cold, boiled tap water as I didn't have anything else available.
This is the first time I've paid any attention to it in 5 years so it's no real hardship if I have to replace it. However, I have some battery acid left over having recent had to replace a motorcycle battery.
Is it worth removing some of the SG 1.1 electrolyte and topping up with new acid?
Anything else worth doing to potentially extend its life or is administering Last Rites the only sensible option.
The mains "smart" charger was fitted to the boat, Beneteau, as new.
Thanks for any advice.
