Hi there,

I recently bought a second hand Jeanneau Merry Fisher 805 Model year 2002.

I have question regarding the battery charger when connected to 220V in the Marina. I have a single Battery installation with 2 main battery switches.

In order to charge the Battery, does the main battery switch be ON or OFF???

Also, why do I have 2 main battery switches? If I turn either one OFF, nothing works ....... both have to be ON so that anything works (Lights, engine, etc.).

Would appreciate your help here.

Cheers

Björn

Welcome to the forums!

The charger should be wired directly to the battery, so it should charge regardless of the battery switch positions.

Some French boats have battery isolators in both the positive and negative leads, and this is perhaps what you have.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have a red switch and black switch (so positive and negative I guess). That explains it.
