Hi my 2 batteries on my merry fisher 925 are now needing replaced can you tell me the best marine/brand batteries i can buy. I do not have the facility of shore power so I'm looking something which is heavy duty and will allow me to run electronics, radio etc while engine is off and wont let me down when far from my home berth throughout the season thank you..

I bought two Exide batteries from Bristol Batteries, 180ah for £150 each.
I am local but they will deliver for a fee.
Wherever you go see if they will buy your old batteries for scrap, I didn't,!

The Best Batteries you can buy are Rolls Batteries - They are the Rolls Royce in the marine world :)

The battery range made purely for auxiliary use can be recharged many 100 off times when completely flat unlike alternative dual use batteries - Have a look @ Barden's website who are based in Fareham for more info

Find a local battery supplier they will often be far cheaper than any of the online deals you find once delivery charges are factored in.

As for the batteries themselves I wouldnt go for really expensive ones as you dont have shore power so chances are they will rarely, if ever, get fully recharged. Expensive batteries are just as easy to ruin as cheap ones if you dont look after them. We are currently running Varta Professional 105AH batteries as below (although we bought locally and they were much cheaper than in the link)

They have been on for two and a half years now and show no signs of significant loss of capacity yet. Although we do leave them plugged into the smart charger during the week.

Another option

You dont give your location in your profile. I appreciate you might like to preserve your privacy but the forum can give you better advice if we know roughly where you and your boat are. I have just had excellent service from Shield batteries in Poole who delivered the battery to my house for free because they had a delivery planned already in the area - saved me £38 plus VAt in freight from some other online suppliers. It was one of their Omani made own brands but they price matched other web offers as well. As for the quality of the battery - well we will see
