Hi,

Had a terrible weekend on the water, but thats another story!

Part of the problem appears that my 4 year old batteries have given up the ghost..

I have one large engine battery and 2 x 85amp hr leisure batteries. Where is the best/cheapest place to source the new ones and what type shoud I go for?

How long should the leisure batteries last roughly, with fridge on, stereo and vhf for a days outing?

Cheers

Nick

assuming your 2 x 85 Ah are solely for domestic use...

170Ah capacity, of which you probably can't charge them to more than 135Ah. You can't safely discharge to less than 85Ah cap, so you have a useable capacity of about 50Ah, maybe a little less.

A fridge (if it is a modern compressor/evaporator job, will probably use an average of 1A, though if you are starting it up from warm each time you use the boat, then it will be a lot higher - perhaps 3A. So an 8 hour day at 3A will use half your battery capacity. The VHF and stereo may use an amp between then, so that's another 8Ah in a day. In other words, you will get less than a day and a half between charges on the domestics
