If its a RR then it could be one of several issues:

1) the piston ring in the pump is worn, this will normally show up as a fault and the dealers cannot measure the actual output of the pump to show its flow, they can only check its pressure.

2) There is a leak at one or more of the joints, while they may be small they can add up.

Both the above make the pump work much harder and much longer and this can hammer pump electrical consumption, remember they are only designed to work in short bursts.

3) it could be an internal leak in the air strut itself which is hard to diagnose anyway.
