Batteries for cllassic Marpro Brass Cabin Clock?

Not sure what the correct batteries for this clock are. Anybody out there got one and knows what to put in it. I am even unsure of the voltage, polarity or shape of battery. You will see from the photos that it appears that there are slots for two batteries. Anybody out there with the answer?

Difficult to see in the picture, but it looks like the terminals are only at one end, suggests to me something like this

I think it's called a PP3 and goes into smoke alarms & guitar tuners, (for me), and probably loads of other stuff.

I thought of that too, but I don't think that is the right type as those batteries have terminals at just one end. If you look at the picture closely one can see that there is a steel conduit running up each side of the clock with 2 sets of battery connector upstands on it. This would suggest two batteries in parallel?

Could be one of the old style 4.5v lantern batteries, with brass strip terminals that could be bent over? Like this: http://clescell.en.alibaba.com/product/5...3R12_4_5V_.html ?

Taken to a specialist jewellers and we have worked out that it works on 2 MN9100 batteries 1.5v in parallel. It is working!!! Its amzazing how quickly these things are made redundant. I think its only a 1960's clock! Anyway, thanks for all your suggestions!
